Introduction.

This is my blog. This is where I will be recording an online diary for my final major project for university.

I am currently in my final term at BIAD, studying Graphic Communication on a Visual Communication degree. I have been working with a local bar & restaurant in Warwick over the last 5 months where I have learnt so much about the practical side of being a designer. My client was 'Rumours Bar & Restaurant', they wanted an entire re-brand of the company where their new business would be named 'Alibi'. My journey with Alibi has been pretty crazy as I've gone from designing a cocktail menu to helping design an entire array of menu's and canvas's, to helping out with the interior aesthetics too.

However, I have learnt that working with my client for this amount of time, and so closely, has led me astray of my studies. Upon completion of my dissertation I reflected on what I had learned through my  reading and theory, the amount of knowledge I have gained through this section of learning has been amazing. And now I have the chance to use all that new knowledge and put it to good use for my final project. I intend to keep on track with branding briefs, although it is very important to me that I use this time to learn and improve on new skills. HTML & CSS, in my opinion, are absolutely crucial to my success as a creative. With so much more information being placed on the internet it is absolutely vital that I have a great understanding of how to use and apply this code, and that is where I will start on my final major project.

The first step is to find a design competition that includes a web design brief, I have signed up with D&AD so I will be looking on their website tomorrow. There are also other competitions to look at as well such as: YCN,GRT and beehive.
